Terms of Service

Last updated August 12, 2026

These terms cover using protectricecounty.com and receiving our text messages and emails. Using the site means you accept them.

Who runs this site

protectricecounty.com is operated by Protect Rice County, a grassroots movement of Rice County, Kansas residents opposing the proposed industrial wind development. We are not affiliated with Rice County government, and not with NextEra Energy or any other energy company.

Text message program

Protect Rice County sends alerts about meetings, actions and deadlines to people who have asked for them.

  • Frequency: roughly 2 to 4 messages per month, varying with campaign activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts. Reply HELP for help, or email updates@protectricecounty.com.
  • Consent to receive texts is not a condition of signing the petition or of any other participation.
  • Supported on the major US carriers; availability may vary.

How we handle the underlying information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Email

Signing the petition subscribes you to campaign email updates, which is stated on the form where you sign. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and using it stops campaign email to you. Text messages are a separate opt-in and are never implied by signing.

Using the site

Sign the petition only as yourself, once, with accurate information. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or submit automated entries. We may remove signatures that appear fraudulent or duplicated.

Liability

This site is provided as is. Meeting dates and locations are set by government bodies, not by us, so confirm details with the relevant body before travelling. To the extent the law allows, Protect Rice County is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on information here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas. We may update them; the date at the top will change when we do.
